Getting children to eat healthy foods starts at an early age. That’s the approach the Boyd County Cooperative Extension Service in Eastern Kentucky has taken with school children in the county. The children planted their own pot of lettuce this spring and were encouraged to take it home and share with their family as part of a healthy meal. Growing their own lettuce is part of a larger program teaching the children about how to have a healthy body.
